FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
1. How do I know if therapy is right for me? If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling in relationships, therapy can provide a safe, supportive space to explore your challenges and build new coping strategies. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit—many clients come to therapy to improve self-awareness, personal growth, and overall well-being. 2. What can I expect in the first session? The first session is about understanding your concerns, history, and goals. I’ll ask questions to get to know you, and we’ll also discuss what approach might work best for you. It’s also your chance to see if you feel comfortable with me as your therapist. 3. How long will therapy take? This varies for each client. Some people come for short-term, focused work on a specific issue (6–12 sessions), while others benefit from longer-term therapy for deeper growth and healing. We’ll regularly review your progress and adjust as needed. 4. What approaches do you use in therapy? I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Reality Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. I tailor treatment to your unique needs and goals. My goal is to provide practical strategies while also supporting long-term change. 5. Is therapy confidential? Yes. Everything you share is kept strictly confidential, within the limits of professional and legal requirements (such as risk of harm to self or others, or court orders). We’ll review confidentiality and its limits during our first session so you feel fully informed. 6. Do you offer online sessions? Yes. I offer both in-person sessions in Thornhill/Markham and secure online sessions across Ontario. Many clients appreciate the flexibility and convenience of virtual therapy. 7. How much do sessions cost, and is therapy covered by insurance? The standard rate is $180 per session. Some sliding scale spots may be available. Many extended health benefits (Manulife, SunLife, Canada Life, etc.) cover psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist. I’ll provide receipts you can submit to your insurance provider. 8. Do you work with couples and families? Yes. In addition to individual therapy, I offer therapy for couples and families, helping improve communication, resolve conflict, and strengthen relationships. 9. Do you offer therapy in languages other than English? Yes. I provide therapy in both English and Farsi (Persian) to support clients in their preferred language and cultural context. 10. How do I book a session? You can reach me by phone at (647) 710-4531 or by email at nreisi@gmail.com. I also offer a free 15-minute consultation call so you can ask questions and see if therapy feels like a good fit before booking a full session.
